Marcel Mettelsiefen ist ein preisgekrönter und Oscar-nominierter deutscher Dokumentarfilmregisseur. 2001 reiste er zum ersten Mal als Kriegsfotograf nach Afghanistan, wo er seitdem regelmäßig arbeitet. Zu seiner Filmografie gehören Titel wie: Agony in Aleppo (Emmy Award 2014), Children on the Frontlinie (Emmy Award 2014; Grierson Award 2014; Peabody Awards 2014; BAFTA 2014), The Escape (Rory-Peck-Preis 2016) und Watani: My Homeland, der 2017 für den Oscar nominiert wurde.
